About 1 in 200 people of northern European origin have the genetic risk for haemochromatosis. People with haemochromatosis absorb too much iron from their diet. The excess iron is stored in the body. Over time this leads to iron overload.

BIOREGIONAL COLLABORATION FOR PLANETARY HEALTH

The Bioregional Collaboration includes Blue Mountains City Council’s Planetary Health Initiative, Lithgow City Council, Western Sydney University’s Lithgow Transformation Hub, Mountains Community Resource Network and the Sustainability Workshop.

This project is supported by the Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (DRRF). The DRRF is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments.
